How to Disable End-To-End Encryption on Messenger?
To disable end-to-end encryption on Messenger, you need to open a regular chat with the user instead of a secret conversation.
A secret conversation is a feature that protects your messages and calls with end-to-end encryption, but it also limits some functionalities, such as reporting or forwarding messages.
Regular chat is a normal conversation that does not have end-to-end encryption, but it allows you to use all the features of Messenger.
Here are the steps to disable end-to-end encryption on Messenger:
- Open the Facebook app on your device and tap on the search icon at the top.
- Search for the user that you want to disable the end-to-end encryption with and tap on their name or profile picture.
- Tap on the “Message” button below their cover photo to open a regular chat with them on Messenger. You can also swipe left on their name in the search results and tap on the “Message” button.
- Send them a message or a call. You will see a lock icon next to their name at the top of the chat, indicating that the conversation is not end-to-end encrypted.
- If you want to switch back to a secret conversation, tap on the lock icon and select “Go to Secret Conversation”. You will see a black background and a timer icon next to their name, indicating that the conversation is end-to-end encrypted.
